Pothys Swarna Mahal’s award-winning jewellery draws inspiration from the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha. This 13th-century marvel pays homage to Surya, the Sun God, who is the foremost of the Navagrahas, the nine planets of Hindu astrology.

In Vedic tradition, Surya, representing the Sun, holds a position of great significance. He is the king of all nine planets, including the Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, and the two lunar nodes, Rahu and Ketu. The seven days of the week are named after these celestial bodies. 

Capturing the Essence of Surya

Pothys Swarna Mahal’s award-winning jewellery brilliantly captures Surya rising in the east and traversing the sky in a chariot across the sky in a chariot drawn by seven magnificent horses named Gayatri, Brihati, Ushnih, Jagati, Trishtubha, Anushtubhi, and Pankti, gracefully guided by the charioteer Aruna, bringing forth the vibrant hues of the sun – violet, indigo, green, blue, yellow, orange, and red.
